Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in social work (BSW): Required for entry-level social work positions. Master’s degree in social work (MSW): Required for advanced practice, clinical social work, and specialized fields like mental health, healthcare, or school social work Licensing and Certification Licensure: Varies by region but often includes exams to become a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
