Job Description:

Job Summary: The Sales Application Engineer will develop sales proposals based on specifications, drawings, and customer requirements for electrical switchgear and controls. They will be responsible for estimating costs and developing proposal documents. They will also work with the engineering team to develop submittal packages after the order is received. The Sales Applications Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the manufacturability of the design and compliance with required standards and specifications.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

• Interprets applicable codes and regulations, assures compliance with National Electric Code, API, NFPA, IEEE, Environmental regulations, OSHA, and any other local codes or regulations.
• Review drawings, specifications, and customer requirements for electrical switchgear and controls.
• Prepare scope of project work, cost estimates, engineering economics, and interfaces with clients. Effectively contributes as a member and/or leader of a team with the ability to work on complex problems autonomously.
• Oversee the preparation of engineering submittal packages including bills of material, submittal drawings, and equipment specifications and cutsheets.
• Develop and maintain standard costing models and work with operations team to ensure their accuracy.
• Prepare sales proposals including pricing, equipment descriptions, bills of material, equipment dimensions, and one line or control diagrams.
• Uses project management tools including Gantt charts, site view cost tracking, and schedule development in coordination with operations team to estimate equipment schedules during the proposal phase.
• Support field installations including develop plans for equipment commissioning, inspection, preventative maintenance, instrumentation calibration, loop checks, programming verification, and emergency shutdown verification.
• Demonstrates ability to effectively negotiate and resolve disputes with a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
• Ensure orderly and complete hand-off between sales and operations.
• Ability to perform self-directed work, maintain schedules, and meet deadlines. Job Requirements
  
  Minimum Requirements/Experience:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience reading and comprehending engineering prints
  • Strong customer service aptitude
  • Working knowledge of compliance requirements for pertinent codes, regulations and standards to include UL891, UL508A, NEC, NFPA
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Three or more years of experience in the design and/or sales of power systems preferred
  • Intermediate CAD, or SolidWorks proficiency preferred
  • Knowledge of EPICOR ERP system a plus
  • Must pass a drug screen and background check for employment.
  • Preferred 6-8 years of applicable experience Required Education:
    • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in mechanical electrical engineering desired, candidates with varying degrees will be considered based on experience.
    • Experience will be considered in place of Degree.
