Job Description:

We recently opened a micro-clinic on-site at the shelter to bring most medical procedures in-house (we had been using private vet clinics). We are seeking a vet tech to work directly under our Senior Pet Welfare/Medical Manager to assist with the care of shelter animals, to manage daily administrative responsibilities, and to assist our vet with spay/neuter surgeries and dentals. The ideal candidate must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and have excellent organizational skills. This position requires a professional demeanor and cooperative relationships with those contacted throughout the course of work, including co-workers, volunteers, and the public. We are looking for a technician who is hardworking and eager to help people in addition to pets. Our successful applicant will be easy to work with, be able to successfully manage rapidly changing priorities, be teamwork-oriented, and be a self-starter. Candidate must have stable job history with no job hopping (all previous jobs approximately 1 year or longer). The schedule is 34-38 hours/week Sunday & Monday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm Thursday 6:30 am -5:30 pm Friday 7:00 am - 6:00 pm (depending on surgery. schedule) Pay is DOE Client Services: 1. Represent the rescue in a professional and courteous manner at all times, and maintain great relations with our vet partners. 2. Work with employees, fosters, and volunteers for medical questions and needs, providing them with quality service, and recognizing their individual contributions to the success of our organization. Patient Care: 1. Examine all patients as they are taken in. Report health concerns to supervisor and in logs. 2. Provide excellent patient care. 3. Assist veterinarians in surgery and dentals as needed. 4. Maintain all necessary drug logs and patient records 5. Stay current in knowledge of emergency drugs and protocol. 6. Administer animal vaccinations, tests, medications and treatments as directed. 7. Transport pets to/from vet clinics in company van 8. Clean and sanitize medical kennels 9. Other duties as assigned.
