Description: Job Title: Mftg Tech A - Exhaust Job Location: USA - AZ - TEMPE Job Code: CS20221207-86627POSITION PURPOSEThe purpose of the Manufacturing Technician in Exhaust includes: creating value-add through equipment optimization, process improvements, engineering experimentation, cross-training, and initiating core pipeline communications from the production staff to upper level staff. The result of the Exhaust Technician's participation includes improved cycle time, rescued product (tubes), lowered cost per tube, higher levels of yield and output, and a more cohesive operational unit. The Exhaust Technician I should have a basic understanding of the vacuum and electronic disciplines as it applies to the Exhaust Process.The Manufacturing Technician in Exhaust should master the following disciplines: 1) vacuum, 2) electronic, 3) mechanical, 4) thermionic (heat/temp), 5) hydraulics/pneumatics (as it applies to the production of intensifier tubes) and components (the micro channel plate and photocathode activation).ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSThe essential job function of the Exhaust Technician is to keep all processing equipment in good working order, reduce cycle time down, eliminate process variation, and to improve allocation yield.The specific processes include: Observe and troubleshoot; decrease cycle time, when possible, by moving the product through the process in a manner that avoids delays or useless activity due to equipment down-time, or idle lapses of equipment inactivity Check paperwork and the status of the equipment, making sure that the equipment is running on schedule, and looking for any potential delay issues Identify issues due to a malfunction in the equipment. Prepare the station and submit maintenance work order to the equipment maintenance group to perform the repair Build an understanding of the process, the equipment, and the product. The Exhaust Technician is able to perform a limited amount of maintenance (using a checklist) such as leak checks Observe the equipment maintenance staff when repairs are performed in order to expand their own knowledge of the equipment Participate in projects with other technicians and with engineering to perform offline experiments, temporary engineering request (TER), in order to improve yields or cycle time. Attention to detail and quality of work Perform other duties as required QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Certification: High School Diploma/ GED (required) Two-year college degree (or equivalent education) Ability to clearly read, write, and understand English (required) Required Knowledge and Experience: 1-2 years' experience within the Exhaust Processor department OR a minimum of 5 years' experience within a high-tech manufacturing environment with relevant experience and knowledge of skills obtained through EOS and OJT Ability to work independently; ability to multitask and switch tasks from one job process/procedure to another as needed to meet production requirements Will be an OJT certified trainer and will provide skills training to peers Ability to write procedures Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues Basic knowledge of vacuum and electronic disciplines Understanding of the Exhaust process and micro-channel plate and photocathode activation Strong research and documentation skills when working on projects with engineering department Ability to communicate well across various organizations, verbally and in writing Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) Knowledge of all safety procedures applicable to job Ability to become familiar with Six Sigma problem solving tools, 5S, and Lean methodologies Knowledge of all safety (mechanical, chemical, electrical) procedures applicable to job United States citizenship required Must obtain and maintain a security clearance within 6 months required Physical Abilities Manual Dexterity Hand-eye coordination Good (correctable) eye-sight (or ability to discern visually) Bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching (or position oneself) Working in a fixed position (able to sit or stand for extended periods of time) Repetitive movement/motion Pinch-grip motion Moving over 50 lbs.
