Job Description:Performs laboratory techniques and data
collection in the cell/molecular biology laboratory. Essential
Duties:
- Under the supervision and guidance of the Research Staff
Investigator, performs laboratory techniques and procedures
required for experimental studies and projects as assigned.
- Conduct tests and procedures utilizing laboratory equipment
such as microscopes, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, analytical
balances, etc.
- Assist in maintaining the mouse colonies: mouse handling,
breeding, weaning, genotyping)
- Assist in performing surgical procedures on research
animals.
- Maintain detailed records of studies conducted, organizes data,
prepare data for computer input, and record computer output.
- Package waste material and arranges for disposal according to
established procedures.
- Train students in the operation of equipment and/or in
technical procedures.
- Order laboratory supplies and equipment.% of time
spent:Experimental/technical support in projects = 50%Lab
organization/ordering = 20%Animal work (colony maintenance
genotyping) =30%PLEASE NOTE: The finalist will be required to pass

Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in a biological science major or
related field of study. Desired Qualifications:
- 2 years experience working in a biology laboratory, molecular
biology and immunology techniques required (PCR, cell culture, flow
cytometry)
- Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures, techniques, methods,
and analysis sufficient to perform a variety of research
protocols;
- Basic knowledge of quantitative and statistical methods
generally attained through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in a
biological science major or related field of study.
- Skill in analyzing and evaluating data The ideal candidate will
have:
- Experience in scientific research
- Experience with handling mice and genotyping
- Experience with general laboratory techniques in cell
culture
- Experience with molecular biology laboratory techniques such as
DNA isolation, PCR, RNA isolation
- Experience with immunoassays (ELISA), flow cytometry, and
immunofluorescence
- Experience with computer skills and software: MS Office, Adobe
Illustrator, Graphpad Prism, FlowJoWorking Environment :
- Activities are performed in a lab setting.
- May be required to wear personal protective equipment before
entering laboratories such as a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses,
closed-toe shoes, and a respirator.
- Ability to communicate to perform essential functions. ASU
