Hawaii Mainland Administrators, LLC ( HMA, LLC ) is seeking a full time Prior Authorization Specialist for our Tempe, AZ location. The prospective candidate will need excellent oral and written communications. They should have the ability to maintain a courteous and professional demeanor while working under pressure self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, detail oriented, strong analytical ability.

Job Purpose
To support the Health Services Department by processing and reporting authorization requests received via telephone, fax, internet, or mail. Also responsible for handling incoming and outgoing calls to providers regarding authorization status, verification of provider demographics and have the ability to respond to other inquiries such as eligibility, identification of participating facilities and ancillary providers, use of website portals etc. Must have knowledge of medical terminology, benefit plan design, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritize daily and weekly activities to adhere to time sensitive tasks.

Data entry of authorizations received via telephone, internet, fax or mail
Telephonic customer service and outreach to provider network
Assisting with utilization reporting and correspondence
Communicating authorization decisions to providers via telephone, internet or fax
