Student Assistant - Data ScienceASU Enterprise Partners is an
efficient network of highly skilled teams; it is comprised of a
full complement of professional services that work in concert with
specialized business units to provide full resources and extend
Arizona State University's ability to achieve its charter.The
Student Assistant - Data Science will partner with data scientists
and assist with data science projects by applying machine learning
algorithms and creating statistical and predictive models using a
combination of R, Python, and SQL programming languages, and
leverage cloud computing platforms like AWS, Azure, and Google
Cloud. In addition, the Student Assistant will assist in automating
routine reporting, create data visualizations, and work with
unstructured data, such as text. In this role, the Student
Assistant will apply their knowledge from technical and
quantitative graduate level coursework in areas such as, but not
limited to, Data Analysis, Business Analytics, Data Mining, and
Data Science as well as gain hands-on experience applying
statistical methods.The position will require approximately 15-20
hours per week, with additional availability during the non-school
year.What You'll Do:
- Perform data analysis using programming tools such as R,
Python, SQL, and visualization tools like Tableau and PowerBI to
create predictive and prescriptive models
- Aggregate data to report and track key metrics to allow the SIP
leadership team to draw decisions and improve processes
- Improve efficiency of internal and external reporting through
the creation of dashboards and other automated procedures
- Take full and direct responsibility to support and achieve all
aspects of assigned projects from initial stages through to
completion
- Gather and consolidate data from various stakeholders to
determine underlying trends and/or future projections
- Build workflows and map data processes based on input from key
partners and stakeholders
- Conduct research on assigned topics via external sources (i.e.,
websites, research surveys) and summarize findings and provide
insights
- Create, design, and build reports and presentations that
include graphs, tables, and charts to translate data findings into
visualizations that are easily understood
- Prepare and organize documentation such as templates, process
maps, diagrams, and data flows
- Provide additional project support (i.e., data collection,
analysis, updating project status) to the SIP team as needed
- Other projects and duties as assignedWhat You'll Need:
- Knowledge in a programming language such as Python / R /
SQL
- Ability to extract data from various databases
- Highly motivated, self-driven, and displays the willingness to
learn and develop new skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
with the ability to create Pivot Tables and visualize data
- Familiarity with tools such as Tableau or Power BI are a plus
but not required.

- Ability to quickly learn new software programs as needed

- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and
responsibility regarding information related to Enterprise
Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential
prospect information

- Adept at navigating complex environments with evolving
priorities and communication plansRelevant qualifications:A current
graduate student at Arizona State University pursuing a degree in
Business, Data Analytics, Computer Information Systems, Computer
Science, Engineering, Statistics or related field with a
willingness to learn and ability to work well with others. The
student must be willing to sign and abide by a confidentiality
