Job Description
Facilities Management, Lock Services, seek a Locksmith to work on
door hardware and access equipment on ASU campuses.
Salary Range
$19.00 per hour. ASU offers a comprehensive benefits package with

Essential Duties
Repair, install, and service locks and related hardware (e.g.
pinning cylinders and impressioning keys). Repair/install
combination locks. Repair/maintain desk and file cabinet locks. Use
hand tools (e.g. screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, hand files, picks)
and power tools (e.g. drills, saws, grinders). Install and repair
Panic Hardware. Cut new/duplicate keys from existing keys,
patterns, or codes. Open locks for which there is no existing keys
or codes. Troubleshoot, repair and install commercial, industrial,
and residential physical security door locking hardware. Maintain
master keying systems for both standard and small format. Complete
work order requests through electronic work order management system
and detail notes for completion (labor, material, and work notes).
This position is located at the Tempe campus, however, may
occasionally travel to other locations for coverage. Clearly
communicate to perform essential functions of the job.
DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM
Minimum Qualifications
Four years of locksmith experience; OR, Any equivalent combination
of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge,
skills and abilities have been achieved. Employee must possess a
valid US Driver's license of the appropriate class and required
endorsements throughout employment.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in:
troubleshooting, repairing, and/or installing commercial,
industrial, and residential physical security door locking
hardware
cutting new or duplicate keys from existing keys, patterns, and/or
codes
using work-order systems (e.g. TMA)
using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
customer service
Knowledge of
electronic access and door hardware
Best, Medeco and Schlage hardware
Evidence of effective communication skills
Working Environment
Walk in extreme varying temperatures to service locations
throughout campus. Lift and carry up to 50 pounds and climb ladders
to adjust rods/internal mechanisms on doors. Stand or kneel for
long periods of time. Drive University vehicles/carts.
May be exposed to hazardous and dangerous materials, tools, and
equipment which will require safety precautions and/or specific
process to be followed, and may include the use of Personal
Protection Equipment (PPE) (e.g. safety glasses, hearing
protection, negative pressure and positive pressure respirator).
Use of PPE may require medical clearance prior to use.

Facilities Development and Management at ASU employment requires

Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license (minimum of Class D)
upon employment and maintain throughout employment. Post-offer of
employment, selected candidate must possess an acceptable driving
record which is 5 or fewer points in the most recent 39 month
period from date of hire.
This position is located at the University Services Building, 1551
S. Rural Road, Tempe, AZ (on Rural Road south of Apache Blvd).
This position requires working a rotating on-call/stand-by schedule
and may be called in for emergency response including nights,
weekends, and holidays.
This position is considered safety/security sensitive and will
include a fingerprint check. Employment is contingent upon
successful passing of all background, including fingerprint
checks.
May participate in programs which involve adherence to program
regulations, including annual tuberculosis testing (injections,
x-ray's, medication), tetanus and appropriate vaccinations (MMR) at
ASU expense and completion of a Health Surveillance
Questionnaire.
Must pass pre-employment physical examination, post offer of
employment.
