Science Program Coordinator Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is
an academically advanced charter school network serving
predominantly low-income and at-risk students, with a decade-long
track record of being one of the highest performing K-8 charter
schools in Arizona. Many students come to us performing 2 years
below grade level and quickly achieve above grade level mastery at
AMS. As part of the AMS family, your role as a Network Science
Program Coordinator to guide our motivated students through an
advanced curriculum alongside our team of talented subject matter
experts and educators.? The position will coordinate the purchase,
teacher-training, and implementation of the network-wide science
curriculum for grades K-8 including hands-on science kits for K to
5 and science labs for 3 to 8. This position will also create and
coordinate common assessments to measure progress on AZ science
standards for grades 3 to 8. Responsibilities:
- Develop expertise in the current science and engineering
program used by the network to become a curriculum program
trainer.
- Apply strong knowledge of AZ state standards to unpack the AZ
Science standards for all grade levels.
- Assist schools with analyzing science assessment data and plan
for improvement
- Develop professional development plans to support teachers to
implement science curriculum with fidelity, to use science
equipment and technology for student engagement, and to use
effective science teaching strategies.
- Provide summer, year-round, and special-request professional
development to teams of teachers in grade bands K-2, 3-5, and
6-8
- Help K-5 teachers use hands-on science kits.
- Apply state-required knowledge of lab safety to create and
oversee lab safety training.
- Create online/self-paced onboarding for midyear science teacher
hires for all grades
- Order curriculum based on inventory, interact with
vendors.
- Support teachers with completing inventory of science and
engineering materials and laboratory equipment
- As needed, conduct in-person science teacher observations and
provide structured feedback
- Define and analyze the effectiveness of the science curriculum
implementation during classroom observations or discussion with
coaches/school leaders.
- Collaborate with other network SMEs and school administrators
to assist in accomplishing program goals and objectives.
- Lead network-wide professional learning communities' sessions
and groups.
- Performs all other duties and services assigned by
supervisor
- Select curriculum as needed
- Develop and support grade 3 to 8 with benchmarks, interim
assessments, and end of term assessments in preparation for state
testing in science
- Coordinate with science curriculum vendors to connect vendor

- Minimum of a bachelor's degree?
- Evidence of leadership and going above and beyond in prior
teaching or administrative roles?
- 5+ years of teaching experience in K-8 science
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal
skills as well as attention to detail?
- A track record of excellent results teaching children at
advanced levels in at-risk communities?
- Excellent knowledge of major science areas: Biology, Physical
Science, Earth Science, and Engineering
- Knowledge of MS Office products including SharePoint
- Knowledge of online testing platforms such as SchoolCity
- Strong ability to analyze data in various applications
including Excel?
- Passion for helping with Title 1 and ESL students in
underserved communities forge their way to a college
education??
- Ability to pass a background check and obtain an IVP
fingerprint clearance card??
- Experience with presentation software such as PowerPoint,
Google Slides, and Nearpod?
- Commitment to helping at-risk students prepare for and succeed
in college? Preferred Skills and Experience?
- Trained in RELAY practices?
- Trained in Teach Like a Champion practices?
- Experience using Schoology or other LMS?
- Experience with engineering curricula
