When you join Cognia, you join a team of experts passionate about our mission and embracing our core values in everything we do.NATURE AND SCOPE:Under moderate supervision, the Data Developer II validates, manages, and prepares data for reporting. Combines several sources of data used for reporting test results. The Data Developer II also provides input and support into internal products and systems that affect data in the company. This position follows established protocols and standards when performing tasks and work outside of standard processes and procedures must be approved by department manager.PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Define and oversee all data and reporting activities for assigned projects.
  • Write programs using T-SQL and/or SAS to support validation, cleanup, transformation, and delivery of assessment data and other contract requirements.
  • Execute cleanup and validations on assessment data with operational timelines including monitoring and adjusting of programs as required.
  • Validate and accept educational assessment data including student demographic and test data from various sources and formats.
  • Create and maintain SQL relational database structure to support reporting.
  • Document reporting technical specifications to ensure common understanding of processes and procedures used on a project.
  • Interface with functional groups to review and update existing project work to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Participate in client meetings to ensure a thorough understanding of contract requirements.
  • Provide input, support, and development to internal products and systems.
  • Develop appropriate quality assurance steps to be implemented on projects to ensure data accuracy.
  • Provide support to team members on projects as needed.
  • Perform duties and fulfill responsibilities that may, from time to time, include related or unrelated tasks.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree within a related discipline and three (3) to five (5) years of experience in SQL or SAS development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Knowledge of database architecture is a plus
    • SSIS experience is a plus
    • Crystal reports experience is a plus
    • Working knowledge of base statistical concepts is a plus
    • Experience in educational measurement would be a plusCompetencies:
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills
      • Ability to work within a team environment as well as accomplish individual work
      • Comprehensive knowledge of T-SQL and/or SAS
      • SQL programming of complex views, stored procedures, functions, and scripts
      • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of developing user-facing reports and forms
      • Experience with Visual Studio and C# is a plus
      • Knowledge of regular expressions a plus
      • Knowledge of Microsoft OfficeAnticipated Travel (may include local, national, and/or international travel):
        • Limited travel (0-10%)
