Job Description

Under general supervision, provides professional human resource services related to recruitment, employment, training, employee relations, policy interpretation, data analytics, benefits, and/or organizational development for an assigned client group(s).

Days and Schedule - Work location is primarily at the Tempe campus, however, incumbent may be required to travel to off-campus events and other ASU campuses to perform work driving their own vehicle. This position is a Full-time position from Monday thru Friday 8AM to 5PM, evenings and weekends may be occasionally be required. Flexible work arrangements are available in an alternative or hybrid schedule but will be based on the work and the needs of the university and department operations and pending leadership approval.

Essential Duties

Advises and consults with managers on employee and human resources issues; may assist in development, implementation and/or delivery of training.
Advises managers on ASU policy and practices; communicates updates and/or modifications to major human resources policies, practices and programs; escalates issues, where appropriate, to a higher-level authority within the unit for decision.
Advises and consults with employees and management on employee relation matters including, but not limited to: coaching, performance management, organizational development, mediation, performance evaluations, and termination.
Investigates problems, complaints, or new ideas based on complete understanding and application of recognized human resources concepts, practices and techniques; recommends to managers' corrective action, problem resolution, or work improvements on major issues.
Assists in developing recruitment strategies; assists in the hiring process and employment law/legal issues; provides information and consultation regarding employment issues including, but not limited to: transfers, promotion, category changes, reduction-in-force, and re-assignments.
Develops strong partnerships with assigned colleges/departments in an effort to positively influence organizational performance and results.
Verifies human resource documents and forms to ensure compliance with established human resource policies and procedures.
Develops and updates job aids and business process guides to ensure consistency with changes in procedures, practices, and/or regulations.
Prepares reports, graphs, charts and statistics in support of human resource operations and studies for ad hoc requests.
Assists in providing direction and counsel to management and staff regarding the interpretation of policies, practices, and procedures regarding a wide variety of personnel actions; refers more complex questions and requests to appropriate leadership staff members.
Assists with the development and revision of training sessions, workshops and seminars for staff and community groups; schedules training sessions, workshops and seminars; prepares and presents training sessions, workshops and seminars.
Assists and participates in a variety of departmental programs and meetings to represent interests of human resources and ensure integration/collaborative support of university wide interests.
Investigates bi-weekly payroll discrepancies and works as a liaison between the unit and human resources to reach a solution.
Performs all activities associated with Department Time Administrator to ensure accurate and timely recording of exception and positive time for human resource staff members.
Assists with internal and external audits; including but not limited to verification of approval levels, salary for all employees, and written internal reconciliation process.
Assists with preparing audit documents for payroll reconciliations. Performs routine payroll reconciliation in coordination with payroll end dates.
Coordinates and process staff and student recruitments, staff promotions and student pay rate change processes, termination processes within the department, and maintains personnel files consistent with University policies and practices.
Oversees staff recruitment requests for all EOSS Units, tracking process, notifying area of approval and supplies matrixes of requests to leadership when requested.
Prepares position announcements, advertisements and information materials for recruitment.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or related field AND four (4) years of professional human resources experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of contemporary human resources principles, practices, and processes.
Experience with full recruitment cycle and using BrassRing system.
Experience with HR functions in changing current employee information with using PeopleSoft system.
Experience with DTA Process and best practice.
Knowledge of state and federal regulations affecting human resources.
Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in pulling, collecting analyzing, interpreting and reporting data.
Knowledge of quality customer service standards, methods and practices.
Supervisor experience for three years
Skill in planning, analyzing and establishing priorities.
Evidence of effective communication, both verbal and written.
Skill in problem analysis and resolution.
Skill in effective teamwork and interpersonal relations.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
Ability to work in an environment subject to regular interruptions, quickly changing priorities and sensitive/confidential information.
Ability to pull, extract, analyze HR Data and able to display in a comprehensible format for leadership.
