Reports to the Retail Risk Support Manager. Retail Banking Risk Support Officer is responsible for identifying high risk transactions for the Retail and Private Bank. High risk activities include; overdraft monitoring, large item review, other operational reports, and the Decisioning of overlimit and exception transactions. Has an understanding of the Retail Bank's operational policies and procedures. Branch support and performance accountability is measured to ensure operational performance and risk mitigation is in accordance to Bank's risk tolerance.
Major Responsibilities:
45% Risk Management/Compliance
Responsible for anticipated operational risk to ensure questionable activity is handled in accordance to established standards.
Accountable for making sound decisions that mitigate risk to ensure customer service and operational efficiencies are maintained.
Responsible for adhering to policy and procedures, compliance, and established regulations.30% Operations
Review reports and decision transactions (i.e., fee reversals, large items, overdrafts, etc.) to ensure established SLAs are maintained.
Responsible for decisioning high dollar transactions and exceptions within approved limits ranging up to $1,000,000.
Monitor and handle internal alerts and escalations to ensue established SLAs are met and decisions are in accordance to established standards. (e.g., Canadian Items, EFM Alerts, Branches, Private Bank, Account Services, etc.).
Demonstrate an understanding of Retail operations risk to ensure course of action is taken to mitigate risk.
Perform cross-functional activities within the Central Operations support group(s), as assigned.25% Customer Service
Ensure that Retail customer delivery and outcome exceeds expectations.
Demonstrate job knowledge, courtesy, and professionalism to ensure SLAs are met.
Effectively resolve difficult situations by tailoring communication style and content.Qualifications:

  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills
  • Understanding and knowledge of operational policies & procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent telephone techniques and etiquette
  • Demonstrate effective business writing and communicate effectively (e.g., tone, professionalism, grammar, etc.)
  • Ability to handle high volume transactions, work independent in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to recognize, analyze and escalate issues that present risk to the Bank.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule
  • Knowledge of branch operating systems
