Job Description/Summary Salary: $17.85/hourThe Medical Assistant
supports the Neil Riordan Center at Sonoran University of Health
Sciences by contributing to a warm, welcome, and healing
environment, for patients treated within our facility. Essential
duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording
vital signs, symptoms and other necessary measurements and
recording chief complaint, documents pain scores as
appropriate.
- Assists providers with exams and in-office procedures: taking
patient's blood pressure, documenting respiration, and heart
rate/pulse, taking temperature, as well as performing phlebotomies,
and ear irrigation. Always uses universal blood and body fluid
precautions and personal protective equipment as needed.
Responsible for prioritization of patient flow through clinical
process.
- Is responsible for prior authorizations, prescriptions,
insurance eligibility and scheduling of patients for the Neil
Riordan Center. Acts as a resource to providers to provide optimal
patient care.
- Provides administrative support with patient notifications and
documentation to include but not limited to medical records, labs,
imaging, and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit.
Provides complete and accurate information necessary for billing
related to the patient encounter.
- Maintains a clean, organized environment including cleaning and
sanitization of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas. Disinfects
equipment and instruments using appropriate products following
manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling of
hazardous substances. Performs basic maintenance of equipment and
coordinates needed maintenance for prompt repairs.
- Assists Clinic Manager with supply inventory and stocks patient
care areas. Assists with supply and medication ordering and tasks
related to all supplies and medications (e.g. expired
medications/supplies and recalls).
- Develops and maintains effective communication with all
customers. Demonstrates customer service excellence and adheres to
our core values.
- Fills in as needed to support the Neil Riordan Center front and
back office and is dedicated to a well-rounded patient care
approach
- Collects payment from patients and issues receipt
- This position will complete all necessary onboarding
mandatories, as assignedExperience:Experience with office medical
procedures and treatments and knowledge of insurance, EMR and
scheduling software preferred.Education:Minimum
Education/Certifications High School Diploma or GEDActive Medical
Assistant Certification Approved CPR or BLS certification required
within 90 days(Or any combination of education, training, and
experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities)
