Director, Arizona Water Innovation Initiative OperationsThe
Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory aims to design
implementable options to sustain global habitability and improve
well-being for all humankind.
We are seeking a Director of Operations to oversee daily operations
and contribute to strategic planning for ASU's new Arizona Water
Innovation Initiative (AWII). The Arizona Water Innovation
Initiative (AWII) is a statewide project led by the Julie Ann
Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory. The initiative has four proposed
strategic programs: the Global Center for Water Technology, the
Arizona Water Observatory and Decision Support System, Impact Water
- Arizona, and Arizona Water for All.
Through this initiative, ASU works with industrial, municipal,
agricultural, tribal, and international partners to rapidly
accelerate and deploy new approaches and technology for water
conservation, augmentation, desalination, efficiency,
infrastructure, and reuse. -
Under leadership direction, the Director of Operations will
collaborate closely with units in the Global Futures Laboratory,
Knowledge Enterprise, and Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering,
liaise with operations and finance teams across the university.
Functional areas of responsibility include budget, finance, human
resources, facilities, and project execution. This position will
support the development of long- and short-range budgetary goals to
support unit priorities in alignment with best practices and

- Oversee the AWII operational budget including grants budget
development and spending along with finance partner and other
department contacts.
- Maintain operating budget and monitor expenditures to assure
funds are used effectively and appropriately.
- Lead and coordinate preparation of administrative and financial
reports.
- Work closely with research and foundation gifts administration
to assist with pre- and post- sponsored project activity.
- Serve as subject matter and policy expert and liaise with Human
Resources for institute recruiting, hiring, offboarding and all
personnel actions.
- Support the development of staffing plans and facilitate the
related recruitment, onboarding, off-boarding processes and related
staffing and development actions.
- Manage renewals and other actions related to cross appointments
and other salary support arrangements.
- Support the development of staff retention and professional
development strategies.
- Oversee internal personnel record keeping process.
- Manage all institute place-based innovations spaces and
facilities, along with related policies, procedures, support
mechanisms such as access, booking, reservations, and coordination
of services.
- Identify and implement methods to continually improve
operations efficiency.
- Monitor budget, expenditures, and overall financial
performance.
- Develop, maintain, and implement policies and procedures.
- Coordinate ongoing operations such as technology improvements,
custodial services and facilities requests along with maintenance
and repairs as needed.
- Supervise and develop staff including operations associate,
direct and matrixed community managers for each place-based
innovation space, and other related personnel including
cross-appointed team members.
- Participate in the hiring, training, retention, and evaluation
of direct reports.
- Manage workplan and coordination across locations for cohesive,
most effective, and highly efficient operations.
- Provide mentorship and ongoing feedback through standard
check-ins and quarterly development conversations.
- Identify potential issues that may result in unit impact and
support measures necessary to resolve and improve.
- Work with leadership to provide high-level support as
needed.

initiatives.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in a field
appropriate to the area of assignment AND eight (8) years of
related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of
supervisory experience; OR, Twelve (12) years of related
administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of
supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education
and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and
