71521BR Campus: Tempe Asst Dir Data Analytics and BI Job Description University Business Services (UBS) is seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated analytics and business intelligence professional to build out the infrastructure to implement data driven decisioning across the business unit. This role will be vital in driving informed, analytics-based decision making across all areas of UBS by extracting data from the various systems across UBS to ultimately reporting on business insights and operational metrics in digestible formats and executive-level presentations. This role will be critical in helping to assess the operational efficiency and financial health of each business unit and recommending strategies for optimal performance over the immediate and longer terms.   • This position will help develop concise, actionable reporting that empowers data-driven decision making.
  • Performs end to end statistical data analyses including extracting from multiple systems and organizing into an easily digestible format suitable for executive review.
  • Examines data to understand trends and derive insights by streamlining the effort needed to search for, merge and query data necessary to make sound business decisions.
  • Manages datasets and standardized metrics through various statistical software, potentially including BI tools, to ensure robust and meaningful information and data is available for statistical and predictive analysis.
  • Manages and ensures data quality to support modeling requirements. Develops and leads defining relevant University Business Services operational metrics as a means to provide additional information and drive data driven insights.
  • Monitor operational KPIs, determine gaps in performance metrics, and recommend/execute change management techniques for efficiency/quality improvements.
  • Creates, manages, and oversees communication mediums for documenting and delivering results (e.g., graphs, PowerPoint slides, data visualization in Tableau or other BI tools).
  • Manages, coaches, develops, and supervises a team which includes hiring, professional development, and performance management and staff assignments. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors Degree in a related business field like statistics, finance, or management information systems; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Desired Qualifications
    • Experience as a business/financial analyst, developing metrics and reports, using data insights to support business cases, planning, and decisions. (3 years)
    • Demonstrated knowledge of BI development tools (Tableau Server, Tableau Desktop, GDS, etc.).
    • Experience with -SQL and data manipulation skills.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, developments, and techniques used in systems analysis, applications programming, and database/data communications technology. -
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the functions and capabilities of database systems and the principles and practices of project management. -
    • Demonstrated knowledge of data management and information technologies. -
    • Experience in the use of the software specific to the assignment, quantitative data analysis and interpretation. -
    • Evidence of effective communication skills, both verbal and written. -
    • Experience in planning, analyzing, and managing multiple priorities. -
    • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. -
    • Demonstrated knowledge of supervisory principles, practices and techniques in the development of direct reports.
    • Experience in interpreting data to determine -appropriate action. -
    • Experience in working effectively in a collaborative environment with a cross-functional team to drive the implementation and execution of projects. -
    • Experience in stimulating -changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to create a more sustainable environment.
    • Experience in leading by example in communicating, participating and encouraging support of the institution's sustainability programs
    • Experience in communicating -technical ideas verbally and in writing to non-technical staff.
    • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
    • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
    • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
