Sr. Director of Learning Design, Learning Enterprise 66484BR Campus: Tempe Sr Director Job Description This role will shape the vision and implementation of reimagining 21st century learning design in higher education. Sr. Director of Learning Design--in ASU's Learning Enterprise means you are the strategic leader and master of execution for this new, bold take on the future of educational success. You will become a leader at the intersection between educational content, human skills and career preparedness. The potential learner populations and portfolio of solutions can be wide and varied - it will be your job to understand learners needs and lead your team through all phases of design, launch, and scaling of modules, courses and support structures within course pathways.--

The best way to predict the future of education is to create it - that will be your job!-- Job Family Generic Department Name Learning Enterprise Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time VP Code EXECUTIVE ADMIN Scope of Search Open Grant Funded Position This is not a grant funded position and is not contingent on future grant funding. Salary Range $120,000 - $150,000 per year; DOE Close Date Category 04 Strategy and Strategic Design: Responsible for the design and efficacy of Learning Enterprise content, pathways and learner support systems within course design. This includes:--

  • Leading 21st century design and pedagogical approach for all LE offerings - including the intersection between college, career and life skills.--
  • Understanding the module, course or pathway "need" and pedagogy to best support learner success and design offerings based on that need.--
  • Engaging all relevant stakeholders (Deans, funders, etc.) in the design process--
  • Data-based reflection to guide future course builds and revisions--
  • Designing and managing ULC student support architecture to increase persistence and completion for learning offerings in course design and course portfolio--
  • Ensuring the overarching LE Learner Experience is considered in course design Leading a cross-functional team: Developing, launching, and scaling will require collaborative work across many disciplines and groups with ASU: academia, technology, instructional design, user experience, analytics, etc. It will be your job to lead this cross-functional team to deliver on the vision and OKRs that you develop for LE Learning Design and ULC Learner Support.--

    Management of a small team that ensures the ongoing maintenance, success, and day to day management of module, course and pathway content, course runs, cohorts, data analysis, student support, revisions, etc. Oversee Universal Learner Course Support team and drive continued student support outcomes for ULC courses.--
    -- Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field AND ten (10) years of related experience which includes five (5) years of management/supervisory experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Desired Qualifications
    • Demonstrated knowledge of how to work in higher education, K-12, or government with the role of finding innovative solutions to meet learner needs.--
    • Experience in managing strategic design processes in education and have worked through the innovative process of content, course and pathway design.--
    • Preferred three to five years of background of facilitating and collaborating in complex team environments.
    • Experience leading a team--
    • Evidence of course/program designer with the ability to design, launch, and scale educations offerings
    • Experience and insight for all functions encompassing the educational offering, including 21st century learning design, technology, product and design, student supports, data-based decision making, etc. You are not an expert in all of these areas, but probably an expert in a handful and are able to hold your own in a conversation about the others.--
    • Ability to be--the external face for LEs learning design vision, and able to inspire people to join our ASU charter and LE mission - whether that be partners, funders, team members, or learners themselves.
    • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse
    • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
    • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
    • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
    • Clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
    • Drives University vehicle and/or cart to campus site Department Statement We believe that the rigid and linear design of traditional higher education is neither an effective ladder to social and economic opportunity for all learners nor is it responsive to rapidly evolving workforce needs. One of the emerging strategies for ASU is the creation of Learning Enterprise (LE). LE is a newly created entity within ASU designed to re-imagine the role of universities in society and evolve the way that learning offerings are designed to meet learner needs and employer demands. These products (LE's learning offerings) will be tech-enabled and outcomes-driven solutions that are stackable, accessible, and evidence-based - designed with employer and academic buy-in. LE will currently focus on the following learner segments: K-12, Bridge, Upskilling, and Enrichment Learning.
