multiple facilities based on established policies and procedures.
Job Description: Job Summary: Provides enterprise-level strategic
and technical leadership for Arizona State University’s Energy and
Automation Systems program within Facilities Development and
Management (FDM). Oversee governance, performance, cybersecurity,
and lifecycle management of the university’s Building Automation
Systems (BAS), Energy Information Systems (EIS), Building
Information Systems (BIS), and associated operational technology
(OT) networks across multiple campuses. Serves as a critical leader
in advancing FDM’s energy initiatives through smart infrastructure
integration, plant optimization, data analytics, continuous
commissioning, and system standardization. Drives the development
and continuous improvement of a secure, resilient, and
high-performing automation platform that improves energy
efficiency, strengthens system reliability, reduces unplanned
outages, and supports long-term capital planning and sustainability
goals. Leads and develops a multidisciplinary technical team while
establishing enterprise standards and cross-functional partnerships
that position FDM and ASU as leaders in intelligent, data-driven
campus infrastructure. Salary range: $130,000 to $142,000 per year,
commensurate experience and education. ASU offers a comprehensive

Provide enterprise leadership and oversight of BAS, EIS, BIS,
metering infrastructure, and OT network architecture across
campuses. Champion energy innovation within FDM, identifying and
implementing creative, data-driven solutions that enhance
performance, resilience, and efficiency. Build and develop a
high-performing, multidisciplinary team focused on automation
excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. Lead
continuous commissioning and plant optimization strategies to
sustain peak operational performance. Drive enterprise energy
analysis and performance improvement initiatives that deliver
measurable results. Establish and enforce enterprise standards for
BAS architecture, integration, cybersecurity, and lifecycle
governance. Reduce operational risk and unplanned outages through
proactive monitoring, predictive analytics, and cross-functional
coordination. Oversee performance and compliance of third-party
energy contracts, including solar and performance-based agreements.
DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM This
position is based at ASU’s Tempe campus and may require working
from other campuses depending on operational needs. Desired
Qualifications Evidence of: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in
Engineering, Energy Systems, Facilities Management, or related
field. Professional credentials such as Professional Engineer (PE),
Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or equivalent industry
certification. Experience in: Leadership in a large higher
education, research, healthcare, or similarly complex campus
environment. Implementing enterprise BAS standardization,
modernization, or digital transformation initiatives. Integrating
automation and energy systems with capital planning, asset
management, or enterprise facilities platforms. Evaluating and
deploying emerging smart infrastructure or energy optimization
technologies. Managing or overseeing performance-based energy
contracts, renewable energy agreements, or similar partnerships.
Demonstrated knowledge of: Advancing institutional energy
reduction, carbon, or sustainability goals. Building and developing
high-performing technical teams. Leading cross-functional
initiatives involving utilities, IT, capital programs, and
facilities operations. Communicating complex technical concepts
effectively to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
Driving innovation, continuous improvement, and measurable
operational results. Working Environment: Primarily office-based on
the Tempe campus with regular campus travel and site visits to
mechanical rooms, central plants, and building infrastructure.
Occasional exposure to mechanical/electrical equipment, noise, and
varying temperatures during field assessments Uses standard office
equipment plus specialized BAS, energy analytics, and data
platforms. Drives university vehicle or cart to access campus
