Advanced Airframes Department within Raytheon Hardware Engineering
provides Mechanical Engineering support to develop solutions for
products across the Raytheon portfolio. Our core mechanical
engineering responsibilities include requirements/conceptual
development, design, integration, and test support. We partner with
several Mechanical Product Team departments to provide full system
solutions. The Advanced Airframes Department is currently hiring a
Senior Mechanical Engineer that will be located on site in Tucson,
Arizona. Tasks will include design, integration, and test of
mechanical-focused hardware using computer-aided design, mechanical
analyses, and consistent coordination and communication across
engineering teams to ensure successful hardware performance,
usually demonstrated through flight tests. This role may also
include leading small teams in the completion of above tasks. What
You May Do Work across engineering disciplines to propose, design,
develop, integrate, and test hardware within the Advanced Airframes
mechanical design department Contribute to one or more of our
contract-funded and independent research efforts, each of which is
in a different phase of development (proposal, design, and
integration/test). Engineers are generally assigned to one effort
at a time but may work multiple efforts over the course of several
years You will work autonomously with limited oversight.
Communicate across disciplines, working with diverse engineering
team members and suppliers to analyze, model, and document the
design technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and
compliance to requirements Work under limited supervision and act
as the responsible engineer often in a project management role over
entire subsystems within an effort. This often requires the ability
to direct, delegate and review the work of other engineers. Develop
technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to
the entire product life cycle including design, manufacture,
integration and test and design solutions for multiple systems
Occasional travel to suppliers may be required to resolve
production issues, technical performance issues or attend critical
program engineering reviews Coach and review the work of early
career engineers. Qualifications You Must Have Typically requires a
degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience Experience
with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), or basic
tolerance analyses, and/or drawing practices and interpretation for
mechanical hardware. Experience with CAD design tools and best
practices. Experience overseeing suppliers in the fabrication and
production of mechanical hardware. Qualifications We Prefer
Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics
(STEM) Existing DoD Secret or Top-Secret Clearance. Experience with
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for technical analysis,
data sorting/plotting, and technical documentation. Experience in
airframe development, electronics packaging, and mechanisms for
missiles or similar applications. Computer-aided Design (CAD)
experience in Creo Parametric and Windchill. Experience with
thermal and structural analyses or with analysts to specify
requirements and design to environments. Demonstrated collaboration
with cross-disciplined teams, using trust, respect, and innovation
to drive results towards a shared vision. Experience with effective
communication (written and verbal) during collaboration with others
to document design actions and results, to perform trade studies,
and to communicate with program management and customers through
presentations and reports. Leadership experience over small teams
(4-6 people). Experience managing suppliers in the development of
medium complexity sub-systems. Experience with Earned Value and/or
as a Control Account Manager to manage the cost and schedule for a

86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith
estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers
