  • Position Summary*The Platform Engineer develops and maintains desktop, mobile device, server, network, and code deployment infrastructure for the enterprise. Platform engineers must ensure reliable, performant and cost-effective capabilities to run business software. Platform Engineers must understand current and future technical platforms from the hardware, operating system, communications, security, and system services layers. They are responsible to plan, design, and build the standard platforms for the company.
    • Key Responsibilities*
    • Focus on internal and external customer requirements
    • Provide technical assistance/coaching to business customers as required
    • Develop time estimates for project schedules, monitor progress, and provide accurate and timely reports
    • Plan and manage project activities within allocated resources
    • Manage resolution of problems and escalate as required
    • Work across projects to synchronize data analysis efforts and deliverables
    • Negotiate and manage team relationships at project level
    • Support the organizations project management policy, practice, and methodology
    • Employ productivity aids in all aspects of assignments
    • Analyze and resolve complex or multiple problems
    • Independently research and recommend alternative actions for problem resolution
    • Provide leadership for the installation, customization, and maintenance of computer/network systems developed internally and/or in conjunction with outside vendor
    • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to influence the design process
    • Provide leadership for the effort to assist project teams/business customers to evaluate, develop, implement, and support system architecture components
    • Provide leadership for system testing
    • Ensures hosting platforms are appropriate, scalable, supportable and require minimal maintenance
    • Top Technician/SME of the staff
    • Build, manage & support complex infrastructure and hosting environments
    • Design, document and implement policies and procedures for hosting environments
    • Work with the business to create solutions that support both IT DR and Business continuity
    • Perform stack and security audits
    • Test and implement system components using techniques that preserve system integrity
    • Ensure that system software is functionally appropriate, technically sound, and integrated
    • Understand implications of situations and proactively lead cross-functional problem resolution
    • Responsible for immediate response to production program problems
    • Recommend process or environment enhancements to applications development and support teams
    • Provide technical problem resolutions
    • Assure functional and technical integrity of system
    • Input to budget
    • Perform technical cost-benefit analysis
    • Assist in organizational, financial capital and operations planning
    • Other duties as assigned
    • Minimum Requirements*
    • Bachelors Degree (in lieu of degree 9 years of experience in Engineering or IT)
    • 5 years of work experience in Engineering or Information Technology
    • Experienced technical or team lead
    • Understands the following: impact of design decision to the computer, performance, etc.), technical behavior of the underlying operating systems, network & hardware, authentication/monitoring/and logging systems, deployment environment, packaging & distribution of apps, operations/run requirements
    • Experience providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced team members
    • Advanced knowledge of computer/network systems hardware and software theory, practice, concepts, and technology
    • Ability to work independently within a specific technology area or across multiple technology areas, to perform troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and solution implementation
    • Ability to analyze and resolve multiple complex problems/ **Hawaiian Airlines is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT - regulation, 49 CFR part 40) and all applicants are advised that post-offer and/or pre-employment drug testing will be conducted to determine the presence of Marijuana, Cocaine, Opioids, PCP (Phencyclidine), and Amphetamine prior to any offer of employment or transfer into a safety-sensitive position.
