Let your career find its purpose here at Abrazo. /n/n/n Certified Surgical First Assistant Full Time Rotating Position Summary /n/n/n The surgical first assistant performs specific tasks according to individual surgeon preference utilizing appropriate techniques including, but not limited to: incision of surgical sites, providing exposure, achieving hemostasis by means of injection, manual and topical methods, and application of appropriate energy sources, manipulation and dissection/removal of tissues, aides in implanting, securing, and/or removal of devices and drains, and applying appropriate dressing material specific to procedure. SPECIAL SKILLS: Excellent communication and critical thinking skills required. /n/n/n Responsibilities /n/n/n Review permit to confirm procedure and special needs, confirm procedure with surgeon. /n/n/n Determine appropriate equipment needed for procedure. /n/n/n Assisting in moving and positioning of patient. /n/n/n Insert and remove Foley catheter in urinary bladder /n/n/n Draping of patient according to surgeon guidelines /n/n/n Provide exposure, retraction of tissue and organs for optimal visualization with regard to tissue type and appropriate retraction instrument and/or technique. /n/n/n Assist in maintaining hemostatsy direct pressure, use and application of appropriate surgical instrument for the task, placement of ties, placement of suture ligatures, and application of hemostatic agents. /n/n/n Make incisions, use electrocautery monopolar and bipolar. /n/n/n Clamp, ligate and cut tissue per surgeon's directive /n/n/n Dissect common femoral artery and bifurcation per surgeon's directive, as well as other arteries & veins. /n/n/n Maintain integrity of the sterile field. /n/n/n Manipulation and dissection/removal of tissues /n/n/n Aids in implantation, securing and/or removal of devices and drains /n/n/n Close all wound layers (fascia, subcutaneous and skin) per surgeon's directive. /n/n/n Select and apply wound dressings. /n/n/n Assist with resuscitation during cardiac arrest or other life-threatening events in the operating room. /n/n/n Endoscopic and open vein harvest including skin incision. per surgeon's directive. /n/n/n May start I.V.s and arterial lines, may select and place x-rays. /n/n/n Placement of appropriate splints or casts /n/n/n Placement of pneumatic tourniquets /n/n/n Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned /n/n/n THE CERTIFIED SURGICAL FIRST ASSISTANT TECH FULL TIME ROTATING CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING EDUCATION, LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE. /n/n/n Education /n/n/n Required: Completion of formal Non-Physician Surgical Assistant program, accredited by CAAHEP /n/n/n Experience /n/n/n Preferred: One year experience as a certified surgical technician - first assist /n/n/n Certifications /n/n/n Required: CFSA - Certified Surgical First Assist or CSA - Certified Surgical Assistant /n/n/n LI-SW2 /n Tenet AZ Job ID 2503026656.
