Who We Want:
Director of Investments
ASU Enterprise Partners, a private, nonprofit organization comprised of five subsidiaries that raise, create and invest resources for Arizona State University, is seeking a Director of Investments to join the Investments team.
The Director of Investments is responsible for assisting the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) in the overall management of the ASU Enterprise Partners'/ASU Foundation's endowment and investment portfolios, which total over $1.5 billion.The position is responsible for assisting in the analysis and implementation of asset allocation policies, oversight of investment strategy and due diligence of prospective investments across all asset classes both public and private across multiple investment pools, including oversight of external consultants. The Director reports to the CIO and working in support and collaboration with the CIO, is responsible for directing day-to-day supervision of staff and operations, accounting and control, performance evaluation, and risk management.
What you'll do:

  • Help manage the Long-Term, Sustainable Responsible Impact, and Intermediate-Term investment pools in accordance with the Investment Policy Statement
  • Analyze proprietary and third-party research reports on markets, asset classes, and manager performance
  • Lead investment manager reviews
  • Initiate value-added investment reports geared towards portfolio risk analysis in the sector strategies within the portfolio including equities, fixed income, hard assets and alternative investments
  • Assist in developing, coordinating and managing investment-related material for committee meetings, financial reporting, audit/tax preparation and other
  • Help in execution of Enterprise Partners' digital strategy including accepting gifts of crypto, creation of NFTs and use of the blockchain
  • Monitor and coordinate diligence of direct investments in real estate and venture
  • Act on behalf of the CIO in his absence
  • Oversee implementation of sustainability practices including Net Zero commitment
  • Other duties as assigned

    What you'll need:

    • Knowledge of financial markets, market risks, investing, investment performance and risk analysis
    • Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment
    • Strong quantitative analytical and modeling skills
    • Strong and collegial interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and by phone
    • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential prospect information
    • Ability to liaison with various consultants and board members
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
    • Advanced computer skills that include extensive knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
    • Problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexible
    • Team-oriented strategist able to effectively manage complex situations involving numerous and sometimes competing constituencies
    • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties
    • Ability to represent the institution well
    • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects
    • Adept at navigating complex environments with evolving priorities and communication plans
    • Proficiency with Bloomberg, Morningstar and other financial software

      Relevant qualifications:
      Bachelor's degree in finance or related area. 5+ years experience in investment role, including institutional asset owner/allocator. CFA designation (or progress toward) preferred.
      Working conditions:
      Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across University campuses. Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions. This position may require some early mornings and evenings to accommodate meetings and events. This position currently requires you to work from the office Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with Monday and Friday optional remote days.
