We are seeking an exceptional Director of Learning Design to lead a dynamic and creative team in helping design and deliver highly impactful and transformative educational programs and courses across all modalities (including in-person, online and hybrid), in one of ASU's most forward-looking colleges.. As a successful Director of Learning Design, you will report to the Associate Dean for Curricula and Student Success, and will provide leadership and support for curricula, programs, course development and delivery, and evaluation and assessment, across the College of Global Futures. Working with college leadership, faculty, staff, and students, you will contribute to the strategic development of the college's educational vision and goals and be responsible for their implementation across educational program design and development; course design and development; curricula; and the effective use of educational tools and platforms.. You will manage a team of instructional designers in implementing best practices and effective tools into the design and delivery of courses and programs across all modalities. You will also work with faculty and staff across the university on curricula and learning initiatives across all modalities.. Take a leadership role in organizing, prioritizing, and advancing key curriculum strategies and initiatives that lead to instructor and student success and support compliance with accreditation requirements.. Work collaboratively with the Associate Dean for Curricula and others on developing and delivering relevant, impactful and innovative educational programs across the college, while exploring and advancing learning design ideas, frameworks, and processes within the college.. Lead the college's Instructional Design team in the design, development, deployment, and improvement of courses and curricula, and managing learning systems and resources.. Oversee workload assignments for Instructional design team between schools within the college.. Supervise and take responsibility for the professional development and performance of staff.. Create and manage a budget for the curriculum team and initiatives.. Systems Oversight and Management. Oversee college access to Kuali and support the college and units in the review of requests.. Oversee course evaluations and program assessment for the college.. Oversee digital credentialing across the college.. Oversee curriculum mapping within the college.. Review education-related software requests from faculty and monitor security reviews.. Implement the use of new education-based technologies across the college as appropriate.. Program and course development. Work directly with faculty and staff in units on the design and assessment of curriculum, programs, and courses, while leading and supporting the development of new curriculum and implementing changes that enhance existing curriculum.. Provide advice and recommendations on program and course changes that may be needed to meet the needs of units and students.. Utilize platforms such as Airtable and Coursetune to manage course development.. Share information with units and instructors about new learning technologies and tools and best practices.. Oversee/lead research on peer programs and explore opportunities for collaboration.. Coordinate college activities with key education-focused organizations within ASU, including EDPlus.. Coordinate online course development between ASUOnline and the college Instructional Design team.. Work with units within and beyond the college on potential joint curricular and digital activities.. Facilitate letters of support for programs/courses within the college, and from other colleges/units.. Represent the college on education and technology-focused committees as needed.. Administration. Act as a primary contact for curriculum-related questions/concerns/issues, identifying and troubleshooting emerging issues.. Oversee college-requests for course and program support/collaboration, as needed.. Minimum Qualifications. Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND eight (8) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, Twelve (12) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.. Desired Qualifications. Evidence of a Masters or doctoral degree in Educational Technology, Education, Instructional Design or Learning design, or similar.. Experience with project management approaches, systems and implementation in higher education.. Evidence of success in leading a team in developing and implementing impactful educational content.. Evidence of effective communication skills.. Evidence of strategic planning and innovation in implementing new ideas.. Evidence of nurturing the growth and performance of teams and team members.. Familiarity with ASU administrative processes, structures and systems.. Experience working with higher education faculty and programs across multiple disciplines.. Experience in implementing and supporting evidence-based assessment techniques.. Demonstrated knowledge of inclusive teaching practices.. Demonstrated knowledge of instructional design/learning design, and pedagogical approaches, practices, and tools, for diverse audiences/environments.. Demonstrated ability to adapt and learn new technologies and processes.. Experience in using learning management systems, especially Canvas.. Experience using Google tools, Dropbox, Slack, and other tools to support document management and communication.. Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.. Experience in providing coaching and critical feedback.. This position is based on ASU's Tempe campus.. Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work..
